Job Title: Senior Test Lab Infrastructure Specialist
Location: Keosauqua, IA
What we are looking for:
We are looking for a Senior Test Lab Infrastructure Specialist to lead commissioning and maintenance activities for all test lab equipment DFR Specialty sites (Keosauqua and Centerville, IA). Key functions of this role focus on maintenance of existing equipment, and special projects involving the installation of new equipment. Candidates should be motivated individuals with strong mechanical, electrical, and problem-solving skillset with an in-depth understanding of remote rack systems, chillers, and HVAC mechanical equipment.
What you will be responsible for in this role:
- Subject matter expert for remote rack systems, chiller operation and HVAC systems operation and maintenance.
- Lead special projects involving the installation and commissioning of new refrigeration systems and components.
- Collaborate cross functionally with subject matter experts from other segments and departments to close knowledge gaps and ensure timely execution of projects.
- Create, coordinate, and execute preventative maintenance programs for all refrigeration and HVAC systems within the product engineering test labs.
- Minimizing lab downtime by execution of daily troubleshooting and repair of test lab infrastructure (refrigeration compressor racks, air cooled condensers, chillers, boilers, pump skids, air handlers, humidifiers).
- Referencing and interpreting industry and regulatory requirements (i.e., DOE, ASHRAE, NSF, UL, etc.) as they apply to rack or chiller control, test rooms, and other equipment.
- Manage preventative maintenance shutdowns to eliminate future downtime. Develop the shutdown plan, assign responsibilities, and provide technical assistance to all team members during the shutdown.
- Manage orders and logistics for parts needed for repair. Identify the parts needed, obtain quotes from suppliers, place PO requisitions, and track orders to completion to ensure timely receipt of parts.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to test lab technicians.
- Assist in setup and installation of refrigerated display cases, data acquisition systems, and associated test equipment following industry standards.
What are the basic qualifications?
- Associate of Science in HVACR, HVACR journeyman in nationally recognized union organization, or equivalent certification in HVACR.
- 10+ years of working experience refrigeration and HVAC.
- EPA 608 certification for working with refrigerants
To be a great fit for the role:
- Strong troubleshooting skill set in refrigeration, both electrical and mechanical.
- Strong working knowledge of refrigeration rack controllers, input/output boards, case controllers, VFDs, valves, compressors, and other equipment commonly used in commercial refrigeration.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in electrical wiring, copper piping, brazing/soldering, plumbing, and fabrication.
- Experience leading special projects involving the installation and commissioning of new refrigeration systems and components.
- General understanding of industry and regulatory requirements with ability to reference and interpret standards (i.e., DOE, ASHRAE, NSF, UL, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of the tools and techniques necessary to meet industry standards for good HVAC equipment commissioning and maintenance.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting environmental test chamber equipment and controls, including data acquisition systems.
