Toole Design Group in Silver Spring, MD is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Senior Engineer (Transportation/Roadway/Civil). Qualifications of a Senior Engineer:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering
  • Professional engineering license
  • 10+ years of experience developing construction documents for roadways or highways
  • 2+ years of experience serving in a project or design management role
  • Experience preparing transportation and local agency permit documents
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation InRoads, MicroStation OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience coordinating utility, right-of-way, street lighting, traffic signals, and landscape and hardscape layout
  • Experience developing construction documents and cost estimates

It would be a plus if you have any of the following:

  • Experience working on engineering projects in one or more of the following agencies: MDOT SHA, VDOT, DDOT, PennDOT
  • Exposure to construction management
  • Experience analyzing and designing stormwater infrastructure
  • Experience using stormwater design software such as HydroCAD or HydroFlow
  • Having a strong interest in multimodal and active transportation design

A Day in the Life of a Senior Engineer

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You lead, support, and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to fulfill production work on your projects. You share your knowledge with staff and clients, to develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents, as well mentor your colleagues to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.
