Purpose
The HRPP Education and Outreach Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing ongoing education/training program for the UT Austin research community and other stakeholders within the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). The HRPP Education and Outreach Manager will also lead outreach efforts to connect the HRPP and IRB with the broader university and local community.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain a robust research community education and training program covering human research activities, regulatory requirements, IRB policies, and best practices.
Create presentations, written guidance, e-courses, and other education materials for distribution to the research community.
Develop and manage the IRB periodic newsletter including creating content, soliciting content from HRPP staff and other institutional collaborators.
Draft and distribute institutional communications regarding HRPP policies, updates, and notices to the research community.
Manage webinar education series including creating presentations, identifying appropriate topics, and delivering presentations.
Manage HRPP/IRB website content in collaboration with HRPP leadership and web design team.
Work collaboratively with HRPP/IRB leadership to develop internal education/training guidance and resources, as needed.
Continually assess the education/training related needs to the research community and develop and implement a strategic plan to enhance the program to meet stakeholder needs. Develop and implement periodic reports of outreach and educational activities.
Support internal outreach efforts.
Work collaboratively with members of the UT research community (investigators, department administrators, research support staff, etc.) to coordinate educational development activities across multiple units and prioritize development of materials.
Manage IRB listserv including maintenance of current subscribers and performing outreach activities to drive additional subscribers.
Develop other outreach methods as appropriate.
Support external outreach efforts.
Develop community outreach initiatives to assist with educating the community about human subjects research.
Work collaboratively with HRPP and IRB leadership to recruit community members to serve in advisory capacity to the HRPP, IRB community member representatives, and other areas as needed.
Maintain working knowledge of best practices and trends within the human research protection field and use this knowledge to plan and implement education initiatives to the research community. Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
At least 3 years of related experience in an IRB and/or research environment at an academic research institution or in a clinical or healthcare setting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate research and regulatory information to individuals at various levels in the organization.
Demonstrated ability in presenting written and verbal information, ideas, and concepts in a clear, concise, engaging, and professional manner.
