AT&T Advanced Technical Support – System Engineering is seeking a Lead Member of Technical Staff with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of projects in the cloud.

The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based technology, with a grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications. You must have the ability to customize cloud technologies to help our customers become more secure and efficient.  Supporting innovative end-to-end integrated systems engineering solutions of worldwide cloud platforms. Collaborating with cloud vendors to plan, design, and implement cloud-based network functions / services.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Possess troubleshooting skills with an emphasis on operational automation coding skills with a passion for operating Internet-facing, as well as internal, infrastructure at scale with zero downtime

  • Establish operational aspects of the infrastructure throughout the entire development life cycle

  • Designing, developing infrastructure as a code, automating deployment, operations, and monitoring processes

  • Collaborating with engineering and development teams across multiple geographies to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions (workload placement, packet forwarding-method, on-prem vs public vs. hybrid)

  • Implementing infrastructure as code practices integrated with CI/CD processes and tools

  • Contribute to technical efforts and expertise in the following areas, with familiarity with other technologies, is a must: Networking, Network Operations and Processes, Operations tooling, Systems

  • Platforms, Network Function requirements, SW development (especially around network and/or cloud functions), IP Networking, and SDN

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience of relevant work experience; Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role

Required Education:

  • Bachelors in an approved field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, Masters in an approved field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a PhD in an approved field with no minimum years of relevant experience

Note:  Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (with programming skills/experience), or Computer Science (with hardware skills/experience) or the equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and/or work experience

Desired Technical Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell

  • Linux expertise, including kernel tuning, virtualization, and storage optimization

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud and internet infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, load balancing, networking, server performance)

  • Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural teams, fostering trust and collaboration

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (preferred over AWS)

  • Understanding of Golang as a programming language for building automation and backend services

  • Expertise in deploying workloads into Kubernetes using Helm

  • Experience with Bicep for Infrastructure as Code (IaC); Terraform

  • Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management

  • Good understanding of Git workflows, including pull request best practices and industry standards

  • Knowledge of ArgoCD and GitOps principles

  • Understanding of Elasticsearch, including end-to-end usage and optimization.

  • Experience developing and tuning Logstash pipelines to consume data from sources like Kafka.

  • Building Elasticsearch transformation pipelines to enrich data during ingestion

  • Familiarity with managing Apache Airflow and building efficient DAGs for ETL processes

  • Experience with ETL pipelines to move data into Elasticsearch

  • Experience with Docker Containers and Kubernetes
