Job Description:Student Affairs:
Advising
- Serve as a student advocate by guiding pre-doctoral students to overcome educational and personal barriers to achieve academic success.
- Offer support to pre-doctoral students facing academic, conduct, or personal issues and refer them to appropriate campus resources for intervention when needed.
- Follow up with students through meetings to assess if their needs are being met.
- Work with faculty and staff to help address student concerns.
D3 & D4 Guidance
- Attend D3 & D4 class meetings upon request, and record minutes and coordinate with Associate Deans of SAI and OAA in reviewing and providing actions/responses for meeting discussions.
D3 and D4 Officer Development
- Develop a plan, schedule, and coordinate Student Leadership Meetings.
- Promote officer leadership development through the following:
- Serve as an advisor, guiding and supporting students in resolving leadership concerns.
- Coordinate meetings, both planned and as needed, to assist in planning events and resolving issues.
- Provide leadership development opportunities.
Scholarship Process
- Collaborate with the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs to streamline the scholarship awards process for DMD students.
- Assist the Event Planner with the Senior Awards at the Senior Banquet Ceremony (see event planning).
Student Organizations
- Stay updated on UF policies and procedures regarding student organizations, and collaborate with Student Activities & Involvement to advocate for UFCD students in policy development and implementation.
- Guide student organization leadership through the annual UF Student Activities & Involvement registration process.
- Ensure all UFCD-affiliated student organizations comply with UF policies.
- Manage student involvement supply and travel fund applications.
- Provide student organization leadership with information on resources available through main campus issues.
- Guide, advise, and support students seeking to create new student organizations.
- Collaborate with the D1/D2 Student Affairs Program Coordinator to plan and execute the D1 Student Organization Fair in the fall.
Accommodations:
- Serve as the liaison to UF’s Disability Resource Center, coordinating support for students with testing accommodations and proctor exams as needed
Student Engagement and Wellness Programming
- Oversee and works closely with the Class Wellness Chairs to provide class and college-wide wellness programming
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean in assessment, development and execution of college-wide wellness programming
- Examples of programming includes:
- Yoga/Meditation seminars
- Speakers Series: Mental Health and other patient care (anxiety, Depression), Anger Management, Eating Disorders, Substance Abuse)
- Stress Busters (Dance parties, games and snacks)
- Meaningful collaborations with faculty and staff groups
Event/Program Planning:
This position will work collaboratively with the Event Planner and other college members to plan events, gather and synthesize event-related information, prepare event documentation and work plans, and communicate information related to student events.
- Support Event Planner for UFCD-sponsored events, including: commencement and the Professional Coat Ceremony
- Work with the Event Planner to support and advise student leadership on student-run events, including but not limited to:
- Bi-Cuspid Ball
- Senior Awards Banquet
- Assist the Event planner and D1/D2 student affairs coordinator in other events as needed
Administrative:
- Serves as the support person for the Associate Dean by providing general clerical support including coordinating travel, scheduling meetings and supporting the Office’s special projects.
- Supports the Student Affairs Committee and other workgroups, scheduling meetings, drafting agendas, and creating minutes; supports other committees as assigned.
- Recruit, train, and supervise office work study student(s)
- Provide budget management for the office
- Keep office records of services and programs rendered
