Position Summary:
A Penske Senior Accountant in the Corporate Accounting department plays a vital role within the accounting and financial reporting functions to ensure effective and efficient compliance with U.S. GAAP. Under the direction of the Manager of Corporate Accounting, this position is responsible for accounting for the company’s financing facilities, including both external and intercompany debt, Partner reporting, updating internal controls and accounting policies related to area of responsibility, assisting in efforts to lean accounting and processes, ensuring quality of account reconciliations, and assisting in the quarterly and annual financial reporting and audit. This position will work closely with internal and external customers to achieve results.
Major Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries, ensuring they are recorded accurately, adequately supported, and in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare monthly accounting and reporting items, including management board slides.
- Perform monthly and quarterly analytics, including financial statement trends. Be able to communicate findings in a clear and concise form, while also evaluating trends for reasonability.
- Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of account reconciliations.
- Lead preparation of bond offering memorandums, including updating and reviewing specific sections, as assigned.
- Responsible for the preparation of the Financing Activities footnote as part of the quarterly and annual financial statements, including supporting workpapers.
- Assist in the quarterly and year-end audits.
- Provide accounting research for transactions related to specific areas of responsibility.
- Document, update, and maintain accounting policies, position papers and SOP’s.
- Develop and drive process improvements.
- Establish rapport and build cooperative working relationships with relevant internal and external parties.
- Other projects and tasks assigned by Manager
Job Qualifications:
- 3-5 years accounting experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and meet reporting requirement deadlines.
- Experience with AS400 and/or OneStream XF preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Associates are currently permitted to work remotely up to two days per week.
