We develop the technology backbone that ensures our production operations run smoothly, reliably and flexibly.</p> <h2><strong>The role</strong></h2> <p>As a <strong>Senior Backend Engineer</strong> in the Production Team, you’ll play a key role in shaping and scaling the systems that power the <strong>operational processes</strong> behind every HelloFresh box.</p> <p>You’ll be part of a cross-functional team developing backend services that orchestrate real-time production and fulfillment workflows, primarily using <strong>Python</strong> and <strong>C#/.NET</strong> within our <strong>ServiceStack-based architecture</strong>.</p> <p>You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and operations experts to translate real-world production challenges into elegant, efficient, and resilient software solutions.<br/>This is a hands-on role where you’ll design, build, and operate systems that have a direct impact on how HelloFresh fulfills customer orders every day.</p> <p>Above all, we’re looking for engineers who want to make HelloFresh better — professionals who enjoy solving complex, real-world problems, thrive in collaborative environments, and take pride in building reliable systems at scale.</p> <h2><strong>What you’ll do</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Design, develop, and maintain backend services powering HelloFresh’s <strong>production systems</strong>.</li> <li>Work primarily with <strong>Python</strong> and <strong>C#/.NET</strong>, leveraging our <strong>ServiceStack-based service architecture</strong>.</li> <li>Take ownership of the full development lifecycle — from implementation to deployment and ongoing operations — following <strong>DevOps</strong> and <strong>CI/CD</strong> principles.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with a cross-functional agile team, including product, frontend, data, and operations, to deliver impactful production solutions.</li> <li>Contribute to system reliability, scalability, and performance improvements.</li> <li>Participate in architectural discussions and help refine our technical direction as we continue to evolve our production technology.</li> <li>Mentor team members, share knowledge, and advocate for best engineering practices across the team.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>What you’ll bring</strong></h2> <ul> <li><strong>Strong backend development experience</strong> with <strong>Python</strong> and <strong>C#/.NET</strong> (both required).</li> <li>Experience with <strong>microservice</strong> or <strong>service-oriented architectures</strong>, ideally using <strong>ServiceStack</strong>.</li> <li>Solid understanding of <strong>DevOps</strong> and <strong>CI/CD</strong> principles, and experience with <strong>containerized environments</strong> (Docker, Kubernetes).</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>event-driven</strong> or <strong>message-based</strong> systems (e.g. RabbitMQ).</li> <li>Strong knowledge of <strong>software design principles</strong>, <strong>TDD/BDD/DDD</strong>, and distributed system patterns.</li> <li>Experience working with <strong>relational databases</strong> such as <strong>PostgreSQL</strong>.</li> <li>A collaborative mindset and passion for mentoring, continuous learning, and process improvement.</li> <li>A proactive, curious, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>What we offer</strong></h2> <p>Elevate your lifestyle!
