Exciting opportunities and partnerships molding the future of space exploration have led to the need for a Systems Engineer at Barrios Technology.Our Commercial Space team is positioned to contribute to the future of space exploration as we build partnerships with established leaders in Commercial Space. The Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to play in a role in various commercial space endeavors including Lunar Terrain Vehicle development.

Our long history supporting Low Earth Orbit (LEO) on the International Space Station, and now Commercial LEO, lays the groundwork for future missions to the Moon through our work on Orion, Gateway, and the Space Launch System. 

Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer - Commercial Space will be responsible for the following:

• Applying systems engineering principles and techniques to requirements validation, product development, product integration, requirements verification, system validation, and hardware/software product deployment.• Developing and reviewing products to support NASA data requirements deliverable (DRD) submittal.• Building an understanding of the product life cycle to perform concept trade studies, requirements management, test & verification, and modeling and analysis. • Maintaining disciplined configuration control, documentation, and management processes• Establishing working relationships with customer counterparts, requirement owners, and commercial teammates’ key personnel to promote systems engineering & integration (SE&I) functions.• Supporting SE&I activities such as requirements identification, development, verification, and tracking• Developing processes and strategies to support cross-functional teams supporting integration, analysis, and testing.• Providing technical systems knowledge during major project milestones and project reviews.• Performing all other assigned duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus five (5) years of appropriate work experience.-OR-Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus ten (10) years of appropriate work experience.(Master's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school can take the place of 2 years of appropriate work experience)
  • Applied knowledge of product life cycle development, sound systems engineering & integration principles, and strong working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines.
  • Applied working knowledge of systems engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience developing NASA DRD products.
  • Working experience using MagicDraw, or equivalent industry standard MBSE tools, to create and manage systems models.
  • Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.).
  • Experience with requirement development, documentation, review, and verification/validation
  • INCOSE System Engineering Professional Certification.
  • Master's of Science degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering.
