Job Description

As the Director – Corporate Development, will lead the Brightspeed business strategy, with initial focus related primarily to our copper business and network including integrated financial, operational, public policy and strategic components, further developing into other complex and multi-disciplinary strategic areas of the business.  This will include strategy development, planning and execution, leading cross functional business direction and oversight of tactical related and supporting projects. Position will require interaction and stakeholdering with executive team in strategy development, planning and execution, with matrix leadership of supporting strategic initiatives.  Will also require leading, communication and negotiations with cross functional partners both internal and external to the company. Position will require:

• A strong working knowledge of copper-based telecommunication business, network, product and technology
• Ability and prior experience of leading and working cross functionally on large scale initiatives
• Strategic planning and innovative problem-solving skills and experience 
• Financial, analytical, and related modeling skills and experience

The Director, Corporate Development duties and responsibilities will include:

• Lead the strategy development, stakeholding, planning and execution of copper network and business strategy projects along with other corporate strategies, and be accountable for execution within the defined business constraints
• Lead and manage a “war room” approach to strategy execution with defined cross functional tactic management
• Collaborate with others in open and productive dialogues across cross functional teams and  initiatives to align to strategic direction
• Resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts impacting strategy execution
• Cross resource management of internal resources, third parties, vendors partnering on strategy execution tactics, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility of strategy execution
• Maintain industry knowledge and changes in financial, operational, technology and policy dynamics or factors that may require strategy changes and pivots
• Manage changes to the strategy direction, underlying tactics, scope and scale requirements
• Perform risk management to strategy decisions and execution status
• Work effectively cross-functionally to solve problems and implement strategic changes while successfully managing the relationship with all stakeholders
• Evaluate progression during all phases of strategy execution to ensure aligned with desired goals and objectives
• Propose changes in strategy direction to optimize business financial and operational results
• Recognize and act on new opportunities while maintaining focus on the company goals, customer accounts and program/project objectives

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecom, Operations Leadership, Business, or related field
• 10+ years of experience managing large scale cross-functional and/or cross team projects
• 10+ years of strong technical experience, preferably in telecommunications
• Prior experience in Corporate Development roles
• Successful teamwork experience and demonstrated leadership abilities
• Must be able to understand, interpret, relay, and conduct technical network discussions
• Familiarity with communications network technology relating to engineering, construction, installation, and network monitoring and optimization
• Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in Telecom service delivery standards
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
• Quick learner with excellent written and verbal communication and analytical problem-solving skills
• Solid organizational skills with attention to detail, multi-task, and cope with deadlines
• Proficient in Micros
