Requisition Summary
The Dimensional Management Lab Specialist performs a wide variety of duties necessary in measuring prototype parts, reverse engineering, and root cause analysis for production part and assembly issues.
This role is located at our Engineering Operations Metrology lab in Denton, Texas.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Develop CAD based CMM inspection programs using PCDMIS software.
- Interpret and explain the CMM reports to design engineers.
- Inspection of prototype parts.
- Create and verify CMM holding and inspection fixtures using a modular fixturing system.
- 3D scan Design Studio properties and convert data into STL files for the Advanced Surfacing Group.
- 3D scan parts and assemblies and convert data into STL files for reverse engineering.
- 3D scan full scale trucks for CFD analysis and benchmarking exercises.
- Root cause production part and assembly fit issues, work with quality assurance, suppliers, and design engineers to resolve issues.
- Lay out hole patterns for various features on master cabs and roofs for the robotic drill cells.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing processes in the metrology space.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent industry experience preferred.
- 2-5 years of demonstrable experience with measurement technology (Portable CMM, Portable Scanners, and PCDMIS or similar software) preferred.
- 2-5 years' experience with Creo Parametric or equivalent CAD tool.
- Thorough understanding of GD&T principals.
- General ability to read and interpret drawings/CAD models and specifications and apply referenced GD&T in the measurement software.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production assembly fixtures, and inspection equipment.
- Knowledgeable in measurement systems analysis, Statistical Process Control, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Experience with Lean concepts and 6-Sigma tools desired.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, take the initiative, be a team player and problem solver.
- Experience with MS Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
