Perioperative Support Specialist 1 Day

The Perioperative Support Specialist 1 is responsible for preparing case carts which includes retrieving and delivering requested supplies, instruments and equipment to the operating rooms as directed by the surgical team. Demonstrates responsibility for self-development.

Job Responsibilities

 

• Assists with the gathering, installation, removal, and cleaning of equipment while utilizing the operating room schedule to anticipate requests.
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for scheduled and added cases to provide efficient procedure set up of surgical cases.
• Completes case preparation for all emergency, add-on, and scheduled cases as evidenced by the presence of a completed case cart.
• Independently accesses the OR computer system, correctly selects the preference card(s) and prints as needed as evidenced by lack of assistance needed during the process.
• Places returned and new supplies and instruments in the correct location as evidenced by their proper placement.
• Monitors supply levels and obtains needed supplies or reports deficiencies to Perioperative Support Supervisor as evidenced by the lack of unreported missing items.
• Performs monthly checks on Emergency case carts.
• Supports the PeriOp Support OR Aide as indicated.
• Supports additional projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements For Consideration

• Location - Inova Alexandria Hospital 
• Minimum Education - High School or GED 
• Schedule - Fulltime M-F Day 7:00AM to 3:30PM 
• Experience -1 year experience in healthcare setting or inventory management 
• License - BLS from AHA UPON START
