About the IDD Education Center

Every individual possesses unique power, potential, and purpose. UC’s IDD Education Center programs support transition age youth and adults with a wide range of intellectual and developmental disabilities to discover and fulfill their purpose. Transition services are about more than managing life on campus. It is about young people and adults realizing their full potential and taking their places in the world – a world that is enriched through their contributions. The mission of the IDD Education Center is to foster quality life experiences for people with disabilities through innovative research, education, and services.
 

IMPACT Innovation offers adults significantly affected by autism a year-round program that includes lifelong learning, healthy living, and vocational exploration through an inclusive experience on the UC campus. IMPACT Innovation was created in response to state and federal government initiatives to increase integrated employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. With the dedicated support from Impact Autism, other generous donors, and waiver funding, IMPACT Innovation is able to provide adults 18 years of age and older meaningful employment opportunities and quality life experiences in inclusive settings which ultimately leads to more independent and fulfilled lives.
IMPACT Innovation provides non-medical transportation services to program participants. Defined as: transportation to, from, between, or among a place of employment, adult day support, career planning, group employment support, individual employment support, or vocational habilitation is provided to the individual. IMPACT provides these services to and from the participants’ homes and the University of Cincinnati and the surrounding community.

Job Overview

Manage, design, develop, modify, educational and vocational curriculum, behavior intervention plans, and communication interventions for associates in IMPACT. Ensure curriculum, protocols, and interventions utilize the most up to date evidence based practices and best practices in the field.  

Essential Functions

• Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs.  Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations specifically related to: curriculum, program plans, behavior plans, level systems, communication interventions, community engagement plans and community outings.
• Implement policies and procedures. Including but not limited to: training assigned staff on curriculum, behavior plans and interventions, level systems, etc.  
• Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
• May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
• Perform related duties based on departmental need. Included but not limited to: coordinating with facilities manager, job coaching, travel training, documentation, participation in communication research committee.

Required Education

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Safety Care Certified
• Medication Certification 1 trained 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
