Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role will be responsible for owning the revenue recognition process ensuring all contract revenue is recorded in compliance with GAAP (ASC 606). This position will collaborate with multiple departments on issues and navigate business impacts on revenue recognition. In addition, the role expands into other areas of accounting such as billing, debt and equity. You will have the opportunity to own the revenue process and contribute to the growth of the company and will be encouraged to make your own decisions, promote efficiencies, collaborate with others, apply your knowledge of accounting and build upon your current skill set.
The ideal candidate will have a thirst for knowledge, strive to take full ownership over the role and become an expert with the goal of progressing their career. This individual must have the desire and ability to contribute to a growing department in a highly dynamic environment. This role requires the individual to drive progress, identify and implement process improvement opportunities. Impeccable attention to detail and dedication to excellent work is required.
An outstanding senior accountant should possess excellent research skills, spreadsheet skills, embrace new challenges, be process-oriented, highly organized, able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. You must have the ability to assume ownership of various processes and have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to strengthen governance, risk, and control environments.
In this role you’ll get to:
- Maintain the SaaSOptics billing and revenue platform
- Interpret data, analyze contracts and communicate findings and recommendations
- Manage large amounts of data and requests from multiple sources
- Develop strong sales deal knowledge and understand the impacts to revenue recognition based on deal structure
- Monitor A/R and the collections cycle
- Ownership over debt compliance and debt transactions
- Assist with equity transactions
- Continuously improve accounting processes including monthly close
- Manage the preparation and completion of the annual financial audit, bank audit and internal controls audit
- Expand your reach into other accounting areas such as debt, leases and equity
- Build internal department memos
- Perform ad hoc projects as needed
