Senior Mining Engineer - Short Term Mine Planning

Mt Owen Glendell Operations (MGO) Mine located in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, 20 kilometres north of Singleton, contains the Mt Owen, Ravensworth East and Glendell mines. The integration of these operations enables all sites to use a single coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) and infrastructure at Mt Owen Mine.

An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced and motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join the Technical Services Team at MGO. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and optimizing our mining operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of short-term engineers to achieve their full potential and enhance team performance.

• Plan Development and Optimization: Oversee the creation and optimization of short-term mining plans and schedules, ensuring they are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with medium- and long-term objectives.

• Compliance and Safety: Formulate weekly mine plans to ensure MGO meets safety, environmental, and production targets, adhering to all regulatory and company standards.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with and provide expert advice to cross-functional teams, facilitating cohesive and informed decision-making processes.

• Technical Analysis: Conduct detailed technical analyses to support informed decision-making for short-term operational strategies.

Requirements for Success in this Role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industry.

• Strong knowledge of mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, or similar).

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Proven ability to manage projects and lead teams effectively.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Dedication to adhering to safety and environmental standards.
