Coordinator Of Student Development

Louisiana Tech University is seeking to fill the position of Coordinator of Student Development.
The Coordinator of student Development reports to the Director of Residential Life and is responsible for the supervision of Hall Directors and Resident Assistants.

The position specifically carries the following responsibilities:

• •Assist in creating learning communities, within residential facilities, which address all facets of student wellness.
• Assist the director in the design and implementation of student life programming initiatives that promote student success (Le. enhancing student retention, student satisfaction, and development of core values adopted by the university).
• Support the achievement resource center that provides leadership and academic enhancement opportunities for students while assisting new students during their first-year transition.
• Recruit, train, and supervise hall directors, resident assistants, and student worker positions.
• Supervise the successful operation of residential facilities and provide student support within predefined areas of University Housing.
• •Participate in professional staff on-call duty rotation to respond to student crisis, emergency maintenance and campus emergency situations.
• Assist in teaching Counseling 201, Student Personnel Services, classes focusing on residence hallmanagement and leadership development.
• Identify and implement student outreach initiatives to increase student involvement in campus life.
• Coordinate departmental events specific to student move in and move out, special recruiting dates such as Time Out for Tech and daily tours of residential facilities to prospective parents and students.
• Assist with summer housing and/or summer conference groups/camps.
• Assist in the continuous assessment and evaluation initiatives pertaining to student development and learning.
• Counsel and guide students in the processes of healthy decision-making and problem-solving on issues related to roommate issues and students transitioning through their first-year experience.

A minimum of an earned bachelor's degree in counseling/social work, education, student personnel, or a related discipline/ Master's degree preferred. Two years of experience in supervising student staff and implementing student development programs. A demonstrated record of leadership, knowledge of student support services and issues specific to college life, excellent problem-solving, crisis management, and mediation skills, proven administrative skills, and excellent communication skills are required.
