Job Description Summary

Miami Regionals seeks an innovative, visionary, and dynamic Regional Director of Career Services and Work-based Learning. This position will focus on building business and community partnerships focused on creating and implementing work-based strategies to enhance the skills and capabilities of an organization's workforce through collaborations with Miami Regionals. They will also oversee the department's support of students and alumni by providing overall management of career services resources and opportunities to encourage career exploration and decision-making, develop and enhance professional development skills, and secure work-based learning, internships, and post-graduation employment.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess existing and desired employment competencies, resulting in workforce development plans supported by Miami Regionals. 
  • Enhance relationships with Southwestern Ohio non-profit organizations and businesses to build awareness of Miami Regionals as a rich source of potential internships and employees,
  • Oversee the strategic outreach to area businesses for those entities at Miami Regionals who engage with local businesses and non-profits including formally coordinating at least one partnership event each semester.
  • Engage senior leadership, academic departments, staff, and advisory boards in integrating career services, internships, work-based learning, and placement experiences into the Miami Regional’s academic and student life structures.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive career services and work-based learning program to enhance the student experience in an on-campus and online environment.
  • Coordinates closely with academic advising to support exploratory students' career advice and placement.
  • Ensure career development expertise resources and training, in various accessible formats, are provided to students and alumni regarding the job-search process, interviewing, resume, and all other facets of career planning.
  • Compile data, administer surveys, and analyze information to complete comprehensive departmental reports that align office goals with Miami Regionals and Miami University strategic goals.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and enhance internship and work-based learning programs (Work+)
  • Supervise Career Services and Professional Development staff, manage budgets, and physical and virtual office needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree. Seven years of career services, human resources, organizational development, business, or related field in a corporate/public or academic setting.

Consideration may be given to candidates with analytical and problem-solving capabilities to identify and address workforce development issues and opportunities. Communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with diverse stakeholders and facilitate learning activities and positive project outcomes. Project management and organizational skills to plan and execute projects or program. Experience developing and implementing comprehensive career service programs to enhance the student experience in an online environment. Ability to function both independently and collaboratively with staff, faculty, students, alumni, and outside constituents such as employers and the broader community. Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or the Association for Talent Development (ATD) certification and/or membership.
