About the role

We are looking for a talented Field Service Diesel Engine Technician / Mechanic to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in St. Louis, MO.  

4 Day work week with 10 hour shift 6:30AM - 5:30PM - Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday. 

 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:   

  • Complete repairs and rebuilds on engine products in the field. 
  • Develop productive customer relations and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.   
  • Apply documented procedures and policies to complete repairs and schedule maintenance, including preparing required parts and tools. 
  • Assist with completion required documentation, such as work completed documentation, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten forms or business system input screens. 
  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements  
  • Ensure adherence to all meaningful Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.  

 

 

To be successful in this role you will need the following:   

  • (Advanced) Technician Level III: Significant relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on most or all of products in-scope for a technician at this location; frequently engaged in complex diagnosis and repair; requires minimal to no supervision; ability to effectively train and guide less experienced technicians of varying skillsets.  
  • Cummins Certifications
  • Flexibility to work various hours and days of the week with the ability to be on call and available for emergency needs. 
  • Must meet all requirements to drive a Company vehicle including a valid driver’s license and insurance. 
  • Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds occasionally, wear required personal protective equipment as required. 
  • Locally valid driving permit   

 

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

Experience: 
Significant field service work experience
Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Customer service experience
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

  • Proficient knowledge in troubleshooting Cummins electrical and aftertreatment using Cummins Insite.  
  • Proficient work experience in replacing internal components (head, pistons, liners, etc.). 
  • Embrace the Cummins values and use them daily.
  • Reliable and a self-starter with a positive attitude that contributes to the team. 
  • Customer focus mentality.
  • Follow and maintain the DOT requirements needed for this position.
  • Union shop.

-    This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

-    A current valid license is required for this role
-    This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
-    This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
-    3 years driving experience
-    This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-    Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
