Overview
This is an opportunity to gain experience leading multiple on-prem infrastructure projects as well as the move of a government organization from fully on-premise infrastructure to an Azure cloud infrastructure, and supporting the security, network monitoring and administration that migration work and the future support of the Azure environment entails.
About the Role
Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Sr. CISCO Network Engineer to serve as the Network Administrator, who will provide technical guidance and demonstrate leadership to one of our program's engineering teams. The person in this role will lead complex, time-sensitive projects and serve in Tier 3 engineering support role for the enterprise data network platforms, performing various activities such as but not limited to troubleshooting, performance issues and performing break-fix network changes. You will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a complex, multi-vendor environment and a strong knowledge of project management fundamentals as well as incident, Problem and Change Management processes. You will be the go-to for advanced engineering projects and drive technical resolution of High-Severity & Low Severity Incidents and will provide direct support of Problem Management process, including Post-Mortem participation and presentations. Also help govern device remediation and Operational Resiliency activities. In addition to Cisco IOS and Nexus experience, possess strong to advanced knowledge of security, routing / switching, carrier services, data center services and network support for VoIP systems. Additionally, experience with Cloud providers, cloud migrations and supporting a hybrid environment is desired.

Responsibilities
- Be the technical lead on high-priority network and cloud projects.
- Complete assigned tasks independently, and as part of a larger project team.
- Plan, implement, configure, and maintain network infrastructure route/switch device operating systems, determine hardware specifications, and validate system performance.
- Work within Azure and the data center, collaborating with other engineers to develop strategies and plans in support of migration efforts and maintaining networking across a hybrid environment.
- Document and transfer knowledge to fellow staff through training, coaching, and mentoring
- Execute performance tuning, operational process development, and security configuration management in accordance with best practices, standards, and procedures.
- Operate and maintain network infrastructure devices including, but not limited to patching, system upgrade, backup, and system configuration.
- Support analysis, triage, and break/fix of infrastructure system-related trouble tickets.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine the real or underlying cause of an incident to prevent future recurrences.
- Support management reporting requirements.
- Document and update systems architecture diagrams using Microsoft Visio
- Coordinate with the team to develop and maintain proper processes, procedures, security, and system documentation according to industry best practices and regulatory requirements
- Help evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance the IT environment to serve strategic and tactical business objectives
- Track and ensure awareness of Cisco and M365 roadmaps, new tools, and capabilities, and recommend their potential use within the organization
- Design and configure services and environments in compliance with Federal security requirements
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Skills/Degree/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or in information technology, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years’ experience supporting network infrastructure projects within a complex, multi-vendor environment
- 7+ years demonstrated experience in designing and implementing network supporting datacenter system virtualization, application load balancing, application hosting, application acceleration
- 7+ years of enterprise and campus networking includes but not limited Cisco Switches and Routers, Cisco ISE, 802.1x, LAN, Remote Access VPN.
- Experience supporting networks running Cisco UC and/or MS Teams VoIP systems.
- Extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience with:
- Cisco ACI
- Firewall management and configuration, with and understanding of network security and defense-in-depth strategies
