Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Project Manager (Federal Project Experience preferred) - to be based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
The Project Manager will lead and execute interdisciplinary projects with a focus on federal projects and will include a broad range of customer and project types. The role will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, and budget of projects across the project lifecycle - from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration. Responsible for planning and managing project staffing requirements, reporting project performance, and identifying and addressing scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure a successful delivery of assigned projects. Experience with DoD/ UFC as well as FAR contracting will be a benefit to the nature of this work. Client facing, primary interface with customers to include our contractor partners (In-House or external general contractors) on design-build projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Works with interdisciplinary technical leads in coordinated successful execution of projects in design and construction.
- Acts as primary point of contact with client
- Reviews and negotiates contracts and prepares fee proposals
- Delivers positive financial metrics including as sold profit, billings, and collection management.
- Manages and leads teams and staff assigned for United States Federal design and construction administration projects
- Successfully develops strategy, mitigation efforts, proposals, contract review, and leads project teams to execute projects
- Manages and leads all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using established processes and tools
- Manages teams across business lines
- Manages subconsultant scope, fees, deliverables, and performance.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Ensure resource availability and allocation
- Develop and monitor a detailed project plan to track progress and identify shortfalls in a timely manner
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs to minimize risk
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
- Report and escalate to management as needed
- Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Maintain project documentation control.
- Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management or related field plus six (6) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Registration in Architecture or Engineering related to building construction
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Architecture or Engineering leading multidisciplinary teams on project deliverables (e.g., technical reports, studies, construction documents)
- Experience in developing scope, fee, and terms for proposals and change orders for interdisciplinary teams related to building design and engineering.
- Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team-building ability and internal/ external networking skills
