Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Motor Carrier Services Office is seeking to hire an IFTA/IRP Application and Credential Coordinator, to perform a variety of duties associated with the International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). These duties include educating customers about federal and state requirements applicable to their business and sharing information about DMV services and benefits Virginia offers to the motor carrier industry.

Responsibilities Include:
• Sorting and reviewing all incoming applications or returns by email/fax/mail to ensure each one is complete and to determine the type of work
• Contacting carriers and/or Customer Service Centers if incoming documents are incomplete
• Handling applications, tax returns and other customer documentation in a manner to protect confidential customer information and to ensure that DMV complies with record retention requirements
• Review the Trip Permit Application for completeness and accuracy

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Must possess or have the ability to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to the licensing, tax, and operational requirements of motor carriers
• Ability to articulate motor carrier federal and state laws and regulations to motor carriers
• Analyze and interpret tax returns, documents and reports
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate in a courteous, professional, and tactful manner, both orally and in writing
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment
• Strong keyboarding skills and skills in the use of a personal computer and automated information systems
• Must possess a strong customer focus
• Adapt to changing work demands and environments
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices and demonstrated ability to apply mathematical concepts to calculate and verify financial and tax computations
• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and to work under pressure during peak workloads
• Willingness to accept varied work assignments to meet changing business needs and to work Monday-Friday, and as necessary, some Saturdays with varying hours to meet agency business needs
