Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Head of Valuation Analytics, this role will lead the valuation analysis and oversight on a portfolio of investments, including but not limited to co-investments, fund investments, and direct positions. The role will form an integral part of the overall valuations process and the candidate will work closely with the Pantheon Valuation Committee (“PVC”), the Fund Finance Team, Private Wealth Operations, the Investment Team, and the Portfolio Data & Fund Valuations Team.
Key Responsibilities
u Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and Pantheon policy (including reporting compliance risks and maintaining appropriate standards of conduct.
u Managing the objectives and development of team members, where required. Support the team through changes being implemented.
u Staff management and development including regular one to ones with staff, annual and semi-annual appraisals, and training.
u Manage and assist with the review of General Partners and external valuations for reporting and audit purposes
u Providing valuation technical support (including industry trends and regulations) and guiding the team to resolve ad-hoc queries from the PVC and other Pantheon teams.
u Managing the team to provide guidance to other Pantheon teams on investment setup, information rights, and potential valuation challenges on new investments.
u Implementing best practices and managing the daily and monthly valuation processes and deliverables of the 40 Act registered interval funds, ensuring NAV accuracy of the evergreen strategies.
u Managing team responsibilities and communications with internal and external stakeholders for the 40 Act registered funds, working closely with the Private Wealth Operations Team.
u Assist the Head of Valuation Analytics with leading the development and implementation of valuation processes for new strategies, build efficiencies and focusing on continuous improvement.
u Leading the updates of Pantheon’s valuation memorandum and policies at least once a year, developing new valuation policies for new product launches, and the ongoing maintenance of the policies to ensure compliance with latest accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
u Support the development of the operating model to improve scale, efficiency, and control. Project manage changes being implemented and provide reporting as required.
u Managing the audit planning process, provide support and analysis to external audit teams and manage the annual audits relating to valuations
u Manage external relationships with third-party valuation firms, auditors, and board communications where required
u Overseeing timely and accurate delivery of PVC materials (valuation of directs and co-investments, and the monthly valuations for Pantheon’s regulated investment funds) and attendance at PVC meetings to provide input
u Where required, voting member of various PVC meetings, ensuring valuations are reasonable, independent of the investment function and in accordance with Pantheon’s Valuation Policy
u Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and Pantheon policy (including reporting compliance risks and maintaining appropriate standards of conduct
Knowledge and Experience Required
u Strong team management skills ideally gained in an operations or valuation related function.
u Experience of large-scale data with high levels of accuracy.
u Strong focus on control and procedure is essential.
u CEIV, ASA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent designation preferred.
u Data science knowledge and experience preferred.
u Experience with valuation and operational aspects of servicing 40 Act registered funds required.
u Private capital valuation knowledge is essential, experience with private infrastructure investments, private credit investments, and income funds prefer
