Education and Work Experience:
1. Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Scope of Position:

Night/Weekend Shelter Assistant, under supervision of the Site Manager, provides on-site monitoring, maintenance and supervision of the facility, residents and their visitors. The Assistant prepares and serves meals, performs cleaning and maintenance of the building, prepares House Duty completion paperwork and checks for House Duty completion, and maintains the safety of the residents by enforcing rules and procedures and assisting the residents with daily needs during the operation hours of the residence, washes house linens, as well as performing extensive cleaning, prep and organization during the overnight operation hours of the shelter.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Current CPR/ First Aid, both infant/child and adult.
2. Current Idaho State Food Handlers’ License (must be able to obtain in first 30 days of employment)
3. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
4. Must be congenial and be able to work with difficult individuals.
5. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Observe and regulate activities at the facility in the evening and overnight, ensuring rules and procedures are followed. Write Conduct Reports for review at Case Conference.
2. Develop good, professional working relationships with residents, helping to resolve conflicts.
3. Supervise housekeeping duties, so that residential personal and common areas are clean, neat, and organized.
4. Refer safety needs or concerns to the Site Manager, in writing via reporting software.
5. Issue necessary housekeeping and personal items to residents (laundry soap, hygiene items, linens, diapers, etc).
6. Maintain an accurate Shift End Report and Log each shift as directed in the reporting software.

7. Ensure daily that the entire facility is clean and organized. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning the kitchen, dish room, public restroom, dining room, Administrative Offices and Food Pantry. Following cleaning schedule as directed by Site Manager.
8. As needed participate in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual deep clean of facilities.
9. As directed, clean rooms after resident exit, preparing for the next family.
10. Wash facility laundry daily (rags, towels, etc).
11. Answer phones and make appropriate referrals.
12. Collect keys and nametags from residents as they exit the property.
13. Work in conjunction with the Social Services staff and Social Services Director to meet the needs of the clients.
14. Make perimeter checks as needed, locking outside doors when required.
