The Regulatory Proceedings and Rates organization supports the operating lines of business by providing regulatory expertise, managing the development, approval and implementation of regulatory filings, rates and tariffs, and advocating the business needs to our stakeholders and regulators. Regulatory Proceedings leads the business in achieving company goals by working with regulators and other stakeholders. Today’s business needs innovative regulatory ideas and strong collaboration with stakeholders.
Position Summary
Manages regulatory proceedings for assigned cases, ensuring compliance with regulatory directives. Forms the case team, develops the schedule, milestones and deliverables, manages issues, leads development of key case materials. Develops, reviews and analyzes testimony, discovery, and other case materials. Tracks, monitors and implements compliance with regulatory directives. Develops, recommends and reviews the case strategy, cost recovery, tariff changes and proposals in regulatory proceedings. Communicates case related information to PG&E management, CPUC staff or other third parties.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $100,000
California Maximum: $161,000
Bay Area Minimum: $ 144,000
Bay Area Maximum: $ 244,000
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Assigned complex cases with significant financial impact or high visibility, such as the Independently manages the regulatory process, collaborating and leaders as necessary.
- Reviews and assists subject matter experts with development of testimony, work papers and discovery responses, settlement documents and communications materials. Anticipates, understands the impact and proactively addresses issues.
- Evaluates and develops recommendations on cost recovery, ratemaking, customer programs and tariffs. Continually looks for and recommends process improvements.
- Ensures all compliance items are identified, tracked, monitored and implemented.
- Reviews and summarizes proposed decisions and other regulatory filings Considering the impact of a case developments on the company as a whole, provides insight into implications and makes recommendations of possible courses of action relating to case comments and/or proposed decisions. Recommends changes in case strategy resulting from anticipated or unanticipated decisions, developments, comments.
- Frequently deals with contacts at various state agencies to gather information or to help advocate for the assigned case. Utilizes expert level knowledge to ask effective questions to add value to the overall case strategy and management. Helps coach, mentor and direct less experienced peers
- Partners with Director, leaders in client line of business, Legal and other stakeholders to develop case strategy and resolve issues. Utilizes knowledge of utility industry practices and/or benchmarks with industry peers. Effectively communicates case strategy or policy issues with company management or with outside parties.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- Job-related experience, 10 years
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related field
- Master’s Degree
