The Role
As a Lumen Network Technician, focused on installation and maintenance, you will be responsible for all aspects of cable repair and maintenance both copper and fiber splicing, carrier systems repair and maintenance will be a feature of this position, also including but is not limited to installation and repairs on POTS and DSL services, buried section repairs (dig and fix), rehab and corrective action on irregular plant conditions in all aerial, buried and underground plant plus all installation aspects to include, but is not limited of GPON, DSL, bonded DSL and POTS services.
Consideration will be given to individuals with field experience and basic telecom, electrical, low voltage, or HVAC skills.
The Main Responsibilities
- Install, maintain/repair and test residential/small business telecommunication service and broadband products such as: POTS, HSI, Networking, VDSL, Fiber to the Home.
- Enable the wireless/wired network on company-approved modems/routers. Connect wires and cables to terminals and attach/detach various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, poles and inside facility. This includes cabling various electronic components (e.g., routers, computers, etc.)
- Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues.
- Perform continuity and/or conformance testing. Use test equipment (e.g., 965DPS, T-Berd, OTDR) and/or coordinate testing of customer lines with the assistance of the test center or other designated employees.
- Read and interpret customer service orders, repair tickets, technical (i.e., mechanical, electrical, digital) drawings, maps, blueprints, diagrams, etc., and perform specified work.
- Interact with customers professionally and courteously via telephone or on the premises. Review and discuss service order requirements with customers, evaluating their service needs and recognizing and suggesting additional/alternative services as appropriate.
- Confirm/update trouble reported, or services ordered, review billing information, respond to questions on features/usages/applications/capabilities of equipment and services, and review systems configuration.
- Identify/explore additional revenue generation opportunities.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Must work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- May be assigned to work out of town for varying lengths of time.
- Drive company-provided vehicle.
- Requires a valid state driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- May require compliance with State and Federal Department of Transportation Drive Qualification Regulations, including drug and alcohol testing.
- May require a CDL.
- May climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet.
- May require pole climbing certification.
- When working aloft with ladders or other equipment with weight-capacity ratings, employees must adhere to the Company safety policy and equipment weight requirements.
- May work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes).
- May perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting and/or moving objects weighing over 75 pounds.
- May perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e.g., extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather.
Compensation
Minimum Hourly Wage $15.07
Maximum Hourly Wage $40.26
