Sunnova Energy is currently searching for a Director, Systems Engineering – Residential Products to be responsible for managing system engineering efforts across the organization for residential systems. This individual will lead an organization with a team that designs and develops systems to satisfy design requirements while working closely with O&M, Service and Product Line Management teams at Sunnova. 

Responsibilities

  • Leads the systems engineering project activities, including system design due to component failure or obsolescence, part substitution, system upgrades and re-designs for residential microgrids with PV, BESS, EV charging, Generators, Load Controls, and other electrification technologies.
  • Build and maintain the technical and application expertise and talent for growing and supporting residential solar systems across the country.
  • Ensure the system designs meet the quality, safety, and performance requirements.
  • Interfaces with cross-departmental groups such as Technical Operations, Product Line Management, Operations and Maintenance, and Business leadership to ensure the needs are met on a multitude of initiatives and programs.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement & Quality Accountability through ownership of discipline productivity and quality measures, process training, and process rigor.
  • Stays abreast of state-of-the-art technology advancement.
  • Hire and maintain proper staffing levels and expertise to meet business objectives.
  • Provides technical and quality control assistance to other departments and installation partners as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in leading extensive, multi-disciplined engineering and quality control teams in Photovoltaic (PV) systems with expanded technologies such as Battery Energy Storage Systems, EV, Generators, Load Management, and other electrification technologies for residential or commercial systems.
  • Education required: BS degree in Electrical or Renewable Energy Engineering fields.
  • Leadership background with experience leading complete lifecycle developments, including executing performance appraisals, managing staffing allocation, process leadership, and career development.
  • Twelve (12) years of applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in residential solar, application engineering, field operations, and project management
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certifications
  • Professional Engineering license (P.E.) or equivalent

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with power system engineering design and understanding of hardware products in the renewable energy industry.
  • Ability to work in a Matrix organization.
  • Field application and installation experience of PV systems.
