Job Summary:

The Student Assistant will provide operations and program support to the Babson Academy Youth Impact Lab by: assembling materials; updating Canvas sites, monitoring registration, reporting and metrics, creating certificates, and database projects. The candidate will assist with the launch and coordination of online exclusive platforms for the Youth Entrepreneurship Educator Community – a global network of YIL-certified youth entrepreneurship educators. May interact with visitors and clients on campus visits and conduct campus tours.

About the Youth Impact Lab: The Babson Academy Youth Impact Lab (YIL) equips youth worldwide with the skills, mindset, and opportunities to be global problem solvers by making Entrepreneurial Leadership education accessible to Middle and High School students everywhere. We do this by training educators, developing and customizing curriculum, and creating the largest connected global network of youth collaborating to address the most pressing issues we face, like social justice and climate action.  Our EPIC (Entrepreneurial Program for Innovators and Changemakers) curriculum meets strength-based learning, empowering young people to create their better way forward without being constrained by their current realities. Our mission is to democratize entrepreneurship education to allow today’s youth (especially in urban and rural settings) to create the greatest possible impact for peace and social progress.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with database projects that ensure accurate records and maintain tracking systems for all operations, outreach, registration, and application elements of YIL programs.
  • Assist with Coordination of the online exclusive platform for the Youth Entrepreneurship Educator Community – a global network of YIL-certified youth entrepreneurship educators.
  • Help create and update a web portal for EPIC-trained educators which will house a directory and educational resources
  • Monitor, update and ensure access to the Youth Impact Lab Educator Toolkit – a post-training resource for certified educators
  • Utilize an exclusive WhatsApp community for engaging EPIC-trained educators by posting regular discussion prompts, sharing news and promoting opportunities
  • Provide general assistance in the preparation of course materials and aids.
  • Serve as a WebEx/Zoom driver for YIL webinars and meetings, which may take place outside of the standard hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30)
  • Collaborate with other team members to add value to the work of the YIL and the Babson Academy
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:

  • Candidates must be willing to do a variety of tasks (including routine and repetitive tasks) and be flexible to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work with numbers, strong attention to detail, computer aptitude, and ability to develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets is necessary.
  • Must be a self-starter and motivated to work on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems and look for opportunities to take on responsibility that contributes to a successful program
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with various constituencies, as well as colleagues across the institution is essential.
  • Proficiency using a variety of computer software and systems such as Microsoft applications and Zoom preferred.

Preference for a student with federal work-study.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is mostly remote, with some in-person work required.
  • Need to be available to work 2-3 days a week, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:30-4:30 pm, in addition to occasional evenings.
  • Need to be available 6-10 hours a week.
