The Deputy Director for the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center (OHRC) in the Department of Pediatrics in Georgetown University Medical Center is funded by a cooperative agreement from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This position interacts with OHRC staff and contractors, federal project officers, professionals, and the public. Additional responsibilities include:
Provide targeted technical assistance (TA) to the Maternal and Child Health-Improving Oral Health Integration (MCH-IOHI) Learning Collaborative (LC) and the Title V-Oral Health Performance (TV-OHP) LC to advance the integration of preventive oral health care into primary care for the maternal and child health (MCH) population (i.e., pregnant women, children, and adolescents, including those with special health care needs, and their families).
Oversee the MCH-IOHI LC, which consists of alliance members (key state stakeholders, including policy, practice, and public health leaders; health professionals; health care payers; public health surveillance experts) determined by each of the eight MCH-IOHI projects.
Provide universal TA to professionals serving the MCH population in all states and jurisdictions to increase knowledge and enhance skills useful for advancing the integration of preventive oral health care into primary care.
Provide universal TA to Head Start staff and ACF regional health specialists to promote optimal oral health for pregnant women and children enrolled in Head Start programs.
Work Interactions
The deputy director reports to the OHRC director. This position supervises the MCH-IOHI LC program manager and provides oversight of the MCH-IOHI LC and the TV-OHP LC contractors, continuously seeks input on activities, provides feedback to staff and contractors, and conducts annual review of the MCH-IOHI LC program manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
Graduate degree
Dental hygienist, preferred
15–20 years of experience in academia, clinical care, health policy, and public health
5–10 years of experience managing LCs focusing on integrating oral health care into primary care
Demonstrated experience in providing TA (providing presentations, producing publications) to professionals
Strong analytical, communication, and management skills
