Role Overview:
Smith and Nephew is seeking a Systems Engineer Contract worker to participate in Robotics product development. Systems engineers serve as the interface between Healthcare Professionals, Marketing representatives, and Engineering teams to ensure technical excellence of product designs. The Systems Engineering organization at S+N has accountability for the creation and testing of the product design input requirements.
Responsibilities:
•Assist product development in a Systems Engineering role, including:
oAssist in data input to requirements management tool for design input requirements for new features and feature upgrades.
oMaintain requirements and traceability between requirements and from requirements to test activities.
oRoute documentation for cross-functional approval
oAssist in compliance activities associated with HCP (Healthcare Professional) interactions including proper planning and record keeping.
•Assist in product development through V&V testing including:
o Development of Design Verification test scenarios and test cases
o Participate in Design Verification Test Execution and in-sprint testing
oSupport troubleshooting and root cause analysis of systems defects and enable R&D team to identify fixes.
o Support system feasibility and verification testing through lab management, pre-lab specimen ordering, post-lab specimen imaging.
Education:
•Bachelor's degree in engineering or science in fields of Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
Location:
•Pittsburgh, PA
Experience:
•A minimum of 1 year experience in systems engineering and requirements management (or comparable role).
•An understanding of design control and/or development of products in a regulated medical device industry.
•Experience in computer assisted surgery or robotics preferred.
Competences:
•Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks.
•Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
•Independent thinking and the ability to work within a team is required
•Ability to assess technical issues and develop solutions utilizing an analytical approach to problem solving.
•Competency using requirements management tools, e.g. Cognition Cockpit, DOORS, JAMA, etc..
•Competency using work management tools (e.g. Jira)
•Competency using word and data processing tools. (e.g. Word, Excel, Libre Office, etc..)
