Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports To: The Human Resources Generalist will report to the Director of Human Resources, Vice President of Human Resources, or equivalent leadership.
Job Overview:
The Human Resource Generalist aids with and facilitates the human resource processes at all business locations. This position will provide information and reporting of: benefits, employee relations, payroll, timekeeping, new hire orientations and trainings, HRIS system maintenance, and similar Human Resources areas. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.
Overall, this position continuously offers the highest level of service to all client and SPS employees while maintaining a professional image of the company by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interprets and explains human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
- Assists with payroll and employee relations issues on an ongoing and needed basis.
- Hires employees and processes hiring-related paperwork.
- Administers employee benefit plans.
- Maintains current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Prepares or maintains employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
- Addresses employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
- Conducts reference or background checks on job applicants.
- Reviews employment applications and job orders to match applicants with job requirements.
- Informs job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, or promotion opportunities.
- Schedules or conducts new employee orientations.
- Reviews and evaluates applicant qualifications or eligibility for specified licensing, according to established guidelines and designated licensing codes.
- Maintains and updates human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.
- Confers with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
- Evaluates recruitment or selection criteria to ensure conformance to professional, statistical, or testing standards, recommending revisions, as needed.
- Contacts job applicants to inform them of the status of their applications.
- Conducts exit interviews and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
- Provide management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
- Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports.
- Advise management on organizing, preparing, or implementing recruiting or retention programs.
- Develop or implement recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated staffing needs.
- Coordinate with outside staffing agencies to secure temporary employees, based on departmental needs.
- Evaluate selection or testing techniques by conducting research or follow-up activities and conferring with management or supervisory personnel.
