A Brief Overview
The Benefits Data Analyst supports the Client Open Enrollment Team and is an integral team player responsible for performing data management retrieval, reporting and processing functions supporting the company's multifaceted open enrollment processes, practices, and system. An extensive portion of this position's time is spent gathering data from a variety of sources, compiling results and reporting on findings. The development of reports involves perceptive comparative analysis and manipulation of data. Reports are expected to include insightful recommendations based on assessment within the broader context of the incumbent's experience in and/or knowledge of the health care and health benefits industry.

What you will do
- Analyze client performance, producing reports and reconciling large amounts of disparate data. This includes analyzing and interpreting claims, fees, and conditions data to determine present and future financial performance.
- Create and manage the client costing tool.
- Understand multiple data sources and structures to maintain strong data infrastructure, bringing relevant data sources into a consolidated environment for more efficient data manipulation and relationship reporting.
- Create queries using design techniques that ensure adherence to database development standards using a variety of database applications.
- Coordinate with all levels of management to gather, analyze, and summarize data to accommodate all stakeholder requests.
- Assist with the annual client renewal process for medical, dental, and other healthcare benefits.
- Document business requirements to ensure systems and processes are set up correctly.
- Responsible for carrier rate validation.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, or other business-related areas preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Typically 2+ years working with relational databases and complex spreadsheets required
- Experience in healthcare analytics and/or insurance preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile any identified conflicts, and categorize high-level information
- Strong Microsoft Office experience. Advanced proficiency in Excel required
- A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
- Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities
- Comfortable across multiple systems and interfaces. Experience with data warehouse preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills with an attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of medical utilization terminology and analysis preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels of the organization
