Team Overview & Job Purpose

Cash Operations is a group of dedicated professionals who are essential to the investment process by ensuring that all BlackRock cash & position data are accurate for processes including investment management, analytics, compliance, and regulatory. Cash types include, but are not limited to, equities, fixed income, OTC derivative positions (swaps, swaptions, FXs, and synthetics) and collateral. Our team provides information services and solutions in support of all BlackRock and BlackRock Solutions businesses. The roles and responsibilities will include actively managing risk and exposure for BlackRock by ensuring the investment book of record reconciled with external prime record holders daily. The role requires an understanding of the mechanics of the reconciliation process, exception management, troubleshooting issues, driving innovative enhancements, data analysis, maintaining documentation, assisting management in leading processes, and recommending improvements to ensure efficient and accurate processes.

The Director is a senior member of the team responsible for leading the team by managing risk and being responsible for cash reconciliations and exception management processes. We ensure that BlackRock data is in line with custodians, counterparties, and other prime record holders every day. You will lead the functional and regional team, understand the process of all reconciliation processes, ensure exceptions are raised and resolved timely, troubleshoot, and identify root causes of issues. You will collaborate with colleagues in the EMEA & APAC regions and work with technology support to incorporate enhancements and recommend / drive operational change and improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize and digitalize cash operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing the cash operations team.

  • Understand end-to-end cash lifecycle associated with all aspects of portfolio management market including market trades, securities lending, collateral management, payments, or corporate actions and how each impact cash reconciliations directly / indirectly and develop the ability of the entire team to correlate the effect of change.

  • All facets of talent management to be performed; embracing BlackRock principles and role modeling these behaviors to the GIO community.

  • Development and active usage of metrics and tools to have a strong daily governance & oversight to reduce risk, ensure prompt escalation, have a good view of team productivity and efficiency and act as a good service provider to our portfolio managers and external clients.

  • Lead and empower team towards finding opportunities for process enhancements and other strategic operational enhancements that facilitates operational processes or mitigates operational risk; share success with the global team.

  • Create and support a culture of continuous personal development with a relentless focus on operational excellence under the key responsibilities.

  • Build and maintain strong interactions with key internal & external partners including; leading & coordinating problem resolution and driving culture of mitigating root causes

  • Support and maintain the commercialization of the platform by addressing all the requirements of cash operations during onboarding of new clients, building out the global operation model for the client business, establishing a service culture and creating capacity for further growth.

Qualifications

  • Candidate should possess a minimum of 10 years of financial services experience and a good understanding of Financial Markets, preferably within the Investment Management, Fund Accounting or Global Custody environment; previous experience in custody reconciliation is preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of supervisory experience; in leading teams of professionals, staff development, coaching and performance assessments

  • Strong, effective analytical and problem-solving skills paired with exceptional decision-making skills.

  • Strong initiative to follow up on outstanding issues – identify what needs to be done and take action and see through to resolution.

  • Data Analytics skills preferred and/or understanding of data science methods & implementati
