Senior Software Engineer

For the Senior Software Engineer position, we expect you to design, develop, and architect software solutions to enable smart city initiatives. More specifically:

• Develop high-quality software design and architecture of innovative software solutions for smart city projects, utilizing the capabilities of the Context Broker and IoT platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, software engineers, and system administrators, to define and refine project requirements and goals.

• Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
• Conduct code reviews, identify potential issues, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle, and provide technical guidance to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of IoT technologies, industry trends, and emerging best practices related to the Context Broker
• Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their business needs and translate them into technical requirements and architectural
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and system integration plans.
• Perform system-level testing, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolutions to ensure smooth deployment and operation of software solutions.
• Actively participate in professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge related to the Context Broker and Gateway API (GraphQL)

Requirements

What do you need to succeed in this position?

Your experience, skillset, and qualifications are going to help you succeed in this position, moving forward. We would like you to have:

A BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related degree

4+ years’ experience in software engineering

Extensive experience in software development, scripting, and project management

Experience using system monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic) and automated testing frameworks

Experience with IoT technologies and protocols, such as MQTT, CoAP, RESTful APIs, GraphQL) and wireless communication protocols (e.g., LoRaWAN, NB-IoT).

Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, ) and the Java/J2EE platform

Knowledge of object-oriented languages such as C#, C++, Perl, Java, Python, and JavaScript/React.

In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. ElasticDB)

Familiarity with various operating systems (Linux, Mac OS, Windows)

Proven experience in building and deploying scalable apps using modern cloud platform technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS, ECS, AWS Service Catalog, FIWARE Service Catalogue, FIWARE, Node-Red, SPARQL, GraphDB)

Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude

Ability to work independently
