Position Overview:  

The Senior Project Manager will provide Program and Project management expertise to effectively drive and/or support the planning, design, build, testing, execution, documentation, and change management of strategic initiatives. This role is remote, with potential limited travel to our San Diego HQ. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the VP, Head of Finance Transformation & Strategic Initiatives to ensure the company's portfolio of projects and process improvements are in alignment with company business strategies and technology strategies/standardization.
  • Act as a champion for agile methodologies, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the team.
  • Ensure the team is supported in the day-to-day management of projects including risk management, issue management, resource management, scope management, stakeholder communications, process improvements, change management, and management of dependencies/interdependencies between projects and business strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for coordinating all project and process improvement initiatives and obtaining support from all key stakeholders.  Develop a plan of action to get a project completed, working across departments to ensure their needs and wants are included within the confines of the project and any budgetary constraints.
  • Lead and identify measurable success criteria for each project. Baseline current process metrics and track changes beyond project completion to ensure achievement of ROI and other metrics.
  • Responsible for coordinating governance approvals for key project deliverables
  • Identify risk areas and provide alternate strategies/solutions to leadership
  • Develop clear and complete change management plans and comprehensive process documentation for the team(s) who will operate the completed process/solution
  • Organizes, tracks, and maintains project milestones, timelines, budgets, and delays, and realigns schedules and expectations as needed for all projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers, as necessary.
  • Responsible for facilitation of project meetings, capturing action items and key takeaways, and following up with the relevant stakeholders to ensure items are closed out, decisions are reached and/or buy-in is confirmed
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts, ensuring that developed/implemented solutions meet user expectations and business requirements.
  • Coordinate roll-up of all reports, documentation, notes, budget variances, and other statistical reporting.
  • Help to coordinate appropriate back-up for testing of internal controls (Sarbanes-Oxley).

Organizational Relationships: 

  • Actively communicate and collaborate with project stakeholders across the organization.
  • Responsible for providing executive leadership with regular reporting on Finance Transformation projects. Engages regularly with all levels of leaders on strategy, delivery, and portfolio governance performance.
  • Escalates key risks and issues affecting delivery Finance Transformation managed projects/processes and acts as a mediator between key stakeholders to help find resolutions.
  • Provide feedback, advice and encouragement to involved project team members.

Qualifications:

Education, Certifications, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of related Project/Program Management and governance experience required. 
  • Real estate industry experience is preferred.
  • Project management (PMI) or change management certification required.
  • Lean/Agile certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be organized, detailed, flexible, efficient, and take ownership of own work product. 
  • Ability to engage with senior leaders to represent the portfolio of projects and defend governance practices to maintain alignment with the Company's objectives and priorities.
