About the role

The Modern Work business unit, which includes the commercial segments of Office and Windows, has undergone fundamental changes as we have shifted our business from perpetual software and transactional sales to cloud services and subscription licensing. Secular trends accelerated by the global pandemic, including hybrid and remote work, have reinforced customer demand for our products and have fueled phenomenal business growth. To sustain our rapid growth, we continually explore new business models, transform our Go To Market (GTM) and invest in new product categories that expand our total addressable market.

More than financial analysts, we in Modern Work Finance are grounded in data on current business performance, adept in framing and communicating complex business issues, skilled in quantitative analysis, and passionate about driving the business forward. In addition to the many exciting opportunities, we generate positive business impact and the demands that places on our time, we also find room in our schedules to unwind and socialize as a team, activities which are integral to creating an inclusive and connected team environment, vital to our long-term career growth.

Within Modern Work Finance, the Business Planning Finance team provides insightful and rigorous analyses, both quantitative and qualitative, to support pricing, packaging, licensing, strategic partership and business development deals, new product and datacenter investments, and other long-term decisions for Microsoft 365 and related products, across all commercial segments (Enterprise, frontline workers (FLW), small and medium business (SMB), EDU, PubSec/Gov Cloud). We provide thought leadership by creating, evolving, and socializing business analysis frameworks such as Customer Lifetime Value, the Long-Range Plan & Growth Framework, and many others to bring clarity to complex business issues and help inform decisions by our leaders.

This Senior Finance Manager - Modern Work Business Planning Finance position will focus on driving long-range planning, financial analysis, modeling, and inorganic investment analyses for our FLW segment, and own the all-up long-range planning (LRP) consolidation for the Modern Work CSA. This role will involve business partners across Business Planning, Product Marketing, Business and Corporate Development, Engineering and other Finance teams. As such, you will play a significant role in driving business growth for Modern Workplace and Microsoft, and in particular drive revenue expansion strategies and business model evolution for our on-prem and M365 portfolio in the FLW segment. It is a rare opportunity with lots of scope for impact and executive visibility.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals.
