Position Type: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Schedule: Friday-Monday (mainly afternoons & evenings)
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Position Description
The Goodman Community Center’s, Good Works Community Catering’s primary mission is to provide the highest possible food quality and customer service for events held by our community members. Good Works Community Catering is a participating department in our TEENworks program, where teens work with staff in a supported employment program to learn culinary skills that are necessary for employment in the food industry. This position supports the execution of menus, operations of the Catering Kitchen, and assists in teaching teens hands-on job skills related to the food and customer service industry.

Qualifications
- 1 year experience in cooking for 250+
- 1 year experience as a line cook or similar position
- Ability to work with, supervise, and train teens in a supported work program.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to actively participate in kitchen operations for entire shifts; the ability to load and unload items up to 50lbs., move and place items in storage and work areas with or without assistance
Responsibilities
- Execute up to 300 plated meals while mentoring and training youth staff and maintaining high quality.
- Assist Catering Chef to maintain and teach food safety and sanitation standards of the kitchen.
- Set up station for service, maintain quality, sanitation, and cook time requirements while preparing all menu items according to recipes and presentation specifications.
- Assist the Catering Chef and Event Team with client taste tests and menu planning.
- During events supervise BOH event staff to ensure all tasks and duties are completed.
- Work with TEENworks related staff to teach and mentor teens and support their ongoing success with prompt and constructive feedback.
- Assist Catering Chef in the operations of the Catering Kitchen.
- Foster a team environment between the Catering and other teams by always maintaining professional, respectful communication.
- Provide backup support to Program Kitchen if needed.
- Attend meetings when required.
