About the role

The Marsico Institute for Early Learning is housed in the Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver. We have dedicated ourselves to improving learning environments and outcomes for children, birth to age 8. We identify the best in early learning research, practice, and policy, and we deliver that information at just the point it will be useful to academics, practitioners, policymakers, and parents — the people who can create and implement changes to improve the lives of young children. The quality of relationships and learning opportunities that young children experience can set the stage for what they can accomplish throughout their lives. 

Position Summary

The part-time Technology and Office Coordinator will support the Marsico Institute's operational efficiency. This position's responsibilities will include managing and organizing our technology inventory, maintaining office and lab spaces, assisting with payroll processing, coordinating shipping and mailing activities, and performing various administrative tasks. This role helps to ensure that our research staff and operations run smoothly, contributing to our mission of improving the lives of young children through innovative early learning research and practice. 

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Position continuation is contingent on available funding.

Essential Functions

  • Track and manage inventory of office technology equipment, including computers, tablets, printers, and accessories. 
  • Perform regular audits of tech inventory and update inventory records in the system. 
  • Coordinate with the tech team to update software, repair, or replace tech equipment as needed. 
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of tech equipment and supplies. 
  • Organize and maintain lab space, office supplies, and storage areas. 
  • Assist with the setup and organization of workstations and office spaces. 
  • Perform general office duties, including filing, copying, and scanning documents. 
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and coordinating office events. 
  • Assist in processing payroll by gathering and verifying timekeeping information and preparing accurate payroll documentation. 
  • Coordinate all shipping and packaging, schedule pickups, track shipments to ensure timely delivery, and maintain records. 
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment. 
  • Proficiency in using office software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with payroll management systems. 
  • Knowledge of IT equipment, software updates, and troubleshooting procedures for both PC and Mac. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, vendors, and other stakeholders. 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling payroll information and shipping documentation. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating a proactive and problem-solving approach. 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree with 1-3 years of experience in an administrative or operational role. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic familiarity with inventory or payroll management software. 
  • Knowledge of basic IT troubleshooting and equipment setup for both PC and Mac. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or operational role. 
  • Experience working in an educational or research environment. 
  • Proficiency in payroll management software. 

Work Schedule

This position requires employees to work approximately 20 hours per week onsite between 8:30am-4:00pm.
