We’re currently looking for a HVAC and Thermal Climatic Wind Tunnel Operations Technician to join our team in Troy, MI.
Job functions include but are not limited to:
- Instrumenting vehicles and conducting component/system level testing
- Assisting engineering team with troubleshooting, root cause analysis and developing effective countermeasures
- Communicating accurately and professionally with technicians, engineers, and management teams
- Tracking personal progress to ensure department and corporate objectives are met.
- Responsible for knowledge of all vehicles in WT (arriving / departing / security)
- Assist in tunnel/soak room/mobile DAS/instrumentation/calibration used in TWT
- Maintain wind tunnel databases, PM logs, and incidence log on equipment and BDAS/HMI issues
- Assist in developing and organizing test sequences for use in TWT
- Knowledge of wind tunnel operations (dynamometer-MMI, HMI-Intouch)
- Knowledge of CWT tunnel and bay safety (ammonia, CO2, gas detection)
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in an automotive related discipline plus 8 years of test technician experience or equivalent required.
- (Will consider 12 years Test Technician experience in lieu of an associate’s degree).
- Experience with instrumentation and data collection.
- Willing to work overtime and travel as needed; the candidate must be able to work overtime on some weekends and off-shift as needed.
- Strong automotive mechanical skills, problem solving skills, and proficient using Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to maintain clean and safe work area
- Very strong automotive mechanical/technical skills
- Preferred direct related experience in HVAC/Thermal testing
- Prior Climactic Wind Tunnel experience preferred.
- Experience with instrumentation and data collection (Campbell Scientific Data Logger, Thermocouples, Etc.)
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn new tasks and must have the ability to maintain a clean and safe work area
