General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking for a Team Lead - Grids for it's Raleigh, NC location.

Your Responsibilities:

The Team Manager for the Project Engineering Team is responsible for coordinating engineering and design as related to high voltage substations
& Grid Solutions.  The manager shall also;

  • Adhere to Hitachi Energy – Grid Solution, as well as Customer’s, quality processes and document control procedures to ensure design documents are complete and accurate, and properly backed-up in the electronic document control system.
  • Major Responsibilities in the Proposal stage:
  • Provide engineering estimates for proposals with emphasis on safety, quality and cost
  • Coordinate development of preliminary design criteria together with the responsible Project Engineer
  • Resolve engineering and design issues as identified by the proposal team
  • Coordinate development of Scoping documents, if applicable, together with the responsible Project Engineer
  • Ensure conformed Hitachi Energy proposal packages with Customer requirements:
    • Review Customer requirements and HE’s proposals to ensure conformance with the package by:
      • Identifying and clarifying engineering ambiguities and conflicts in the documents
      • Identifying potential or probable risk during construction and installation
      • Developing mitigation strategies for identified risks
    • Work with the proposal team to ensure that the sub-contractors scope of work is clearly defined, that contract Terms & Conditions include appropriate flow downs, and that risks are properly allocated between ABB and the sub-contractors
  • Validate Sub- Contractor Bids:
    • Analyze sub-contractor bid responses for inconsistencies, oversights and mistakes
    • Provide recommendations to the proposal team based on the bid review analysis
  • Major Responsibilities in the Project Execution stage:
  • Manage the Project Engineers dedicated to specific project efforts to meet the resource requirement for all IOU projects per the master project schedule
  • Resolve engineering and design issues as identified by the Project Engineer on each project,  with emphasis on safety, on-time delivery, quality, and sound commercial guidelines
  • Works with the respective PMs and Project Engineers to establish project specific guidelines, reporting and document formats for review and approval
  • Manage and coordinate the Project Engineering support for all IOU projects, including, but not limited to, the following deliverables:
    • Project design criteria
    • Review of the substation / switchyard, both AIS and GIS, general arrangement
    • Electro-Mechanical engineering & design
    • Civil & Structural engineering & design
    • Protection & Control engineering & design
    • Substation Automation engineering
    • Material and Equipment specifications
    • Equipment documentation reviews
    • Development of Sub-Contractor Scope of Work (SoW) documents
  • Works with the respective Project Engineers in review­ing the engineering generated documentation to ensure that it is in general compliance with the applicable project guidelines, cus­tomer specifications, governing national standards and sound engi­neering judgment before it is subjected to the Customer approval proc­ess
  • Validate Sub- Contractor Bids:

    • Provide cost recommendations to the project team based on the bid review analysis
  • Notifies the project team of any difficulties encountered in  the design that may adversely impact safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the project deliv­erables, and provide recommendations for solutions
  • Travel to project site as required.

Your Background: 

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering analysis software tools, such as WinIGS, US Amp, etc., is preferred.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
