Job Overview

The Tax Specialist role can be assigned to anyone of the various tax compliance disciplines, including income, sales and use and property taxes.  This position prepares state and local tax returns, annual reports and other miscellaneous compliance, including administration of tax calendar.  This position also assists with development, implementation, and execution of efficient processes.  Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What You Will Do

• Supports tax compliance for assigned returns with a focus towards accuracy and timeliness, support/own tasks as assigned, manage notices for assigned returns.
• Research various federal, state and local tax issues to be communicated with others.
• Other duties, including supporting audits function, as assigned.
• Development, special projects, other - pursue pipeline and developmental opportunities including tax training, software training, HR sponsored training, and/or give back opportunities at Macy’s.
• Take on other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• Demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

 

Skills You Will Need

Interpersonal Skills: Effective interface with numerous partners within Macy’s, fostering collaborative relationships.

Research Skills: Proficiency in researching tax literature to stay updated on tax laws and regulations.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tax compliance and reporting.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally.

Independence: Capability to work independently, under minimal supervision, while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Mathematical Proficiency: Above-average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Critical Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to address tax-related challenges and opportunities.

Organization and Time Management: Excellent organization and time management skills to effectively manage tasks and meet deadlines.

Computer Proficiency: Knowledge of MS Office computer programs and proficiency in income tax software, preferably Onesource.

• Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. CPA preferred. 1-2 years of related experience.
