At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Systems Engineer/Integrator a typical day will include the following duties:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The System(s) Engineer/Integrator will apply experience and understanding of data management and business process development to assist the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager in providing customer-facing, programmatic information management services. These services include architecting, supporting, and troubleshooting collaborative information management systems.
This role requires a wide range of IT experience in system and application development, design, and deployment as well as the ability to troubleshoot system-related issues. Also critical is the ability to adjust to client enterprise technologies and their impacts to back-end information system design and implementation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate skills in identifying, designing, and implementing solutions to support and facilitate tangible operational improvements using a variety of IT applications. This individual should embody a passion for continuous improvement and a deep understanding of data-driven decision-making design principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess program processes and procedures and propose improvements to the PM/DPM
- Provide customer-facing solutions
- Capture customer requirements and provide corresponding solutions
- Document both business and technical processes across the program as needed
- Assist with tracking and maintaining program data
- Plan, design, and implement improvements using tools such as SharePoint, Power BI, and Excel
- Administer and maintain the sponsor’s collaboration support environment (currently collection of SharePoint sites)
- Analyze, author, deploy and maintain workflow solutions as defined by sponsor and corporate users
- Provide thought leadership and guidance to sponsor and corporate customers regarding enterprise architecture, information architecture, and its impact on business operations
- Routinely examine current processes and seek value-added improvements for future states
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, and work/military experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience in:
- Data management principles and data-driven design
- Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) activities/principles
- Designing, deploying, maintain collaboration solutions (e.g., MS SharePoint)
- SharePoint workflow authoring and designing
- Modeling data for visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of directly relevant System Engineering experience
- Outstanding communication skills
- PMP or equivalent certification demonstrating project management skills
- Action-oriented, detailed, organized, and can work well independently and with teams
- Ability to react positively to changing environments and advance progress with minimal guidance and oversight
