A Brief Overview
Responsible for the scheduling of cases performed within the Surgical Services Departments. Assists in compilation of surgical service statistics. Participates in being a liaison of Surgical Services to the medical staff and to their office staff.

Essential Functions

  • Schedules procedures, interacting closely with physicians, physician’s office staff, anesthesiologists, nursing management and access staff.
  • Completes case information sheets, calculates necessary room time using MD case time database and turnover time standard.
  • Answers scheduling calls promptly and courteously.
  • Schedules in accordance with scheduling policy and pays attention of details of scheduling parameters.
  • Is familiar with the Operating Room Information System scheduling software and uses correctly.
  • Prepares and distributes surgery schedule to the appropriate departments on a timely basis daily.
  • Encumbers in the computer the necessary surgical equipment
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred and
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience in patient registration, medical office setting or other related field required Required and
  • Previous surgery experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • Good interpersonal skills with courteous phone manner imperative.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Hybrid position: work from home option is available, onsite will be a required as assigned (Surgical Service Administration only).
