Student Information Systems Database Administrator

The SIS Database Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of our student information system (SIS). This role ensures secure, efficient, and reliable access to student data while supporting integration with third-party systems and district reporting tools. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented systems thinker with experience in database administration, data management, and education technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

System Configuration & Maintenance

• Configure SIS modules to support school workflows and academic calendar timelines
• Maintain system settings, rule logic, and SIS platform features
• Ensure schools' SIS systems are functional at all times

User Management & Access Control

• Administer user accounts, permissions, and role-based access
• Ensure secure and appropriate data access aligned with FERPA and PLA policies

Data Management & Integration

• Oversee data imports, exports, and synchronization between SIS and other platforms (e.g., LMS, assessment systems, HR/payroll)
• Support accurate state reporting and data compliance processes

Reporting & Analytics

• Develop and manage custom reports and dashboards for school leaders, operations, and instructional teams.
  Respond to ad hoc data requests and ensure reporting accuracy

Data Quality Assurance

• Monitor data integrity and troubleshoot anomalies or validation errors
• Lead regular data audits to ensure high-quality student records

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Manage scheduled backups and ensure recovery procedures are documented and tested.

• Monitor SIS performance metrics and make recommendations for improvement.
• Identify and resolve issues impacting speed, efficiency, or functionality

Security Monitoring & Compliance

• Maintain SIS compliance with data privacy regulations (FERPA, COPPA, etc.)
• Track and remediate security risks or vulnerabilities

Patch Management & System Updates

• Coordinate with vendors to implement system patches and version upgrades.
• Test and document the impacts of updates before organization-wide deployment
