Job Purpose and Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Manager II (SSM2) will lead strategic sourcing activities, supplier negotiations, contract management and spend analytics reporting for key Ingredient & Foods procurement portfolio categories, with an annual spend of $100MM+.  The role will also be a liaison to Dawn’s Canadian region and will the primary procurement representative.  In addition, the SSM2 will coordinate along with the Regional Procurement Teams across the globe, tasked with expanding collaboration and leading joint global sourcing events. 

 

This is hybrid position with the requirement to be on-site at our Jackson, MI home office for a minimum of 3 days per month with a travel commitment of up to 40%.

 

 What You’ll Do as a Strategic Sourcing Manager II at Dawn Foods?  

  • Lead procurement portfolio cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and ingredient optimization for key ingredient portfolio categories.
  • Serve as the internal and external expert for the Procurement function for their categories.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and key stakeholders to ensure cost, quality, service, and delivery targets are met for North American Ingredient & Food categories.
  • Strong understanding and delivery of essential financial metric reports and analysis (such as PPV and Forecasts).  
  • Provide commodity market updates and strategies for commodity portfolios for use by steering teams for Dawn Global, Americas (LATAM & North America), North America, Commercial (Key and Market), and Targeted Key Customers.
  • Peer leader for other sourcing managers and procurement analysts, including informal coaching and mentoring.
  • Serves as the procurement functional liaison for our Canadian team, helping to meet the needs of that market
  • Serve as the liaison to LATAM & European procurement team, leading and identifying joint Global sourcing opportunities.
  • Other duties or assignments as needed.
  • Demonstrates the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and supports the Circle of Excellence.

 

What Does It Take to be Strategic Sourcing Manager II at Dawn Foods?  

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field with 5 years of related work experience or 10 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • Preferred experience of managing a portfolio with an annual spend of $100MM+, food commodity experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general supply chain processes, procedures, and inventory management concepts required.
  • Strong negotiation skills, problem solving ability and strategic thinking ability; Exceptional communications skills; Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales & Marketing.
  • Proficiency with EXCEL, ACCESS, PowerPoint, MS Project; SAP experience preferred.
  • Process orientated facilitator of full Strategic Sourcing bid & negotiation process (RFI, RFQ, & award) 
    Proficiency with data extraction using ERP systems.
  • Skillful understanding of related derivative markets. 
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
