Sr Principal Software Engineer

DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Drive key technical decisions for the business unit. Provide expert level technical insights and directions to rest of the team. Design, develop and implement software solutions. Solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. Involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Identify or troubleshoot application code- related issues. Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions. This position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel to meet with the globally distributed teams at different JPMorgan Chase & Co. facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field of study plus 10 years of experience in the job offered or as Principal Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Systems Software Engineer, or related occupation.
Skills Required: Requires experience in the following: cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS); designing data stores including relational and document stores including Redis, Cassandra, MongoDB and Cassandra; building highly scalable and performance platforms using distributed, and event driven architectures including Kafka; container orchestration including Kubernetes and Docker; backend and frontend tech stacks including Node.js, Java, Kotlin, and Spring; API Design in different API Semantics including OpenAPI, REST, SOAP, gRPC, and GraphQL; software design patterns including SPI, Builder, Adapter, and Chain of Responsibility; software algorithms including divide and conquer, backtracking, and dynamic programming; drive technical leadership, direction, and architectural input into product vision and roadmap development; software development lifecycle process and tools including Agile SDLC, Maven, Jenkins, and GIT; Automated Testing; Functional Testing; System Integration Testing; and Unit Testing.
