About the Role:
We're building the next generation technologies that will power CrowdStrike for the next ten years — and we need a leader who can help us build the team that builds them. As Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering, you'll join a fast-moving, early-stage team taking a blank-slate approach to scaling our systems and using AI to stop breaches.
This is not a purely people management role. You'll be deeply embedded in the technical work — leading code reviews, driving architecture discussions and owning operational readiness — while simultaneously expanding and developing a growing engineering team.
Note: This is a hybrid role based out of our offices in Redmond, WA, Sunnyvale, CA, Austin, TX, or NYC with an expectation of being in the office at least 2 days per week.
What You'll Do:
Step into an early-stage team that is partly in place and help shape, grow and scale
Lead code reviews, architecture discussions and operational readiness reviews
Define and drive the technical direction for significant components of our next-generation cloud architecture, collaborating with our most senior technologists
Partner closely with desktop agent and AI teams
Own and deliver large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects — from technical and architecture planning through to execution and accountability
Champion continuous improvement through design reviews, post-mortems and engineering best practices
Hire, develop and retain exceptional engineers
Foster a culture that mirrors the best engineering traits: comfort with ambiguity, propensity to action and strong cross-team collaboration
What You'll Need:
B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of experience managing engineers, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
Hands-on experience building and operating high-volume, highly resilient Tier-1 cloud services and systems
Strong knowledge of Go, Java or similar technologies
Demonstrated ability to own and deliver large, complex engineering projects across multiple teams and stakeholders
Proven ability to operate with ambiguity and make sound technical decisions with limited information
Strong sense of ownership and accountability for what your team builds and ships
Experience driving technical decisions and alignment across groups with competing priorities
Ability to communicate complex technical ideas in writing and verbally
Bonus Points:
Experience managing machine learning (ML) or data engineering teams
Experience scaling and developing an early-stage engineering team, building on an existing foundation rather than starting from zero
