POSITION SUMMARY
CVS Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Staff Network Engineer specializing in DNS with a strong focus on IP Address Management (IPAM) to join our growing team. This critical role will be responsible for the operational support, design, implementation, and optimization of our DNA and IPAM infrastructure, primarily leveraging InfoBlox. A deep understanding of IP networking principles and extensive DNS expertise are essential, along with proven experience with InfoBlox solutions. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successfully managing enterprise-level IP address spaces and complex DNS environments. This Senior Staff Network Engineer opportunity additionally will require strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Expectations for the role:
- DNS Management: Take ownership of the enterprise DNS infrastructure, ensuring its stability, security, and performance. This includes managing DNS zones, records, and related configurations. Implement DNSSEC where appropriate. Troubleshoot DNS resolution issues and performance bottlenecks
- IPAM Management: Serve as the primary administrator for our InfoBlox IPAM system, ensuring its availability, performance, and accuracy. This includes managing IP address blocks, subnets, DHCP scopes, DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, SRV, etc.), and other related configurations
- InfoBlox Expertise: Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of InfoBlox NIOS, including configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and integration with other systems. This encompasses experience with DNS, DHCP, and IPAM modules, with a specific emphasis on DNS management within InfoBlox
- Network Design & Implementation: Contribute to the design and implementation of network infrastructure projects, ensuring proper IP address allocation and seamless DNS integration with the IPAM system. Collaborate with network architects and engineers to develop scalable and efficient IP addressing and DNS delegation schemes
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Python, Perl, PowerShell) to automate IPAM tasks, such as IP address allocation, DNS record creation and modification, and reporting. This includes leveraging InfoBlox APIs for automation
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide Tier 3 support for IPAM and DNS-related issues, including troubleshooting connectivity problems, resolving DNS resolution issues, and diagnosing DHCP conflicts. Escalate complex problems to vendors as needed
- Documentation & Training: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the IPAM and DNS systems, including operational procedures, configuration guides, and troubleshooting guides. Provide training to other network engineers and support staff on IPAM and DNS best practices and the use of InfoBlox
- Capacity Planning: Monitor IP address utilization and DNS query loads and forecast future needs. Develop and implement strategies for IP address space expansion and reclamation, as well as DNS infrastructure scaling
- Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices for IPAM and DNS, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of IP address and DNS data. Adhere to all relevant compliance regulations and policies
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other teams, including network engineering, security, systems administration, and application development, to ensure seamless integration of IPAM and DNS services. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest IPAM and DNS technologies and best practices. Identify opportunities for improvement in the IPAM and DNS systems and processes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 7 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on IPAM and DNS
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with InfoBlox NIOS, specifically with its DNS functionalities
- 5+ years of experience with InfoBlox NIOS
