About E&ES

Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary

Caterpillar’s Low Voltage Motor and Generator Team designs motors and generators used in electric drivetrains on Caterpillar machines.  As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of new motor and generator components as well as the optimization of performance, cost and reliability of current production products.

What You Will Do
• Design mechanical motor components that integrate recommendations from motor performance and simulation teams and that leverage component commonality.

• Work with the machine teams and drivetrain system engineering groups to establish application requirements for motor components.
• Work with Caterpillar SME’s to ensure robust designs and methodologies.
• Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, and manufacturing representatives to implement motor designs and changes throughout the product life cycle.

What You Will Have

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline

Technical Excellence: Design and product development knowledge for components or systems used in on-road or off-road machines, vehicles or equipment.    
Level Extensive Experience:
• Deep proficiency with 3D modeling software (CAD, Pro-E, Creo, etc)
• Experience with quality tools including FMEA, APQP, BIQ & PPAP
• Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions.
• Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.
• Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.
• Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems.
