Senior Associate, Suitability Compliance Principal

Role Overview:
The Suitability Team is responsible for the timely review of new and replacement sales—as well as certain inforce transactions—for life insurance policies, annuities, and mutual funds. Our goal is to ensure alignment with New York Life’s suitability and replacement guidelines. We also support Field agents with suitability-related case inquiries and program guidance.
What You’ll Do:
- Review annuity, life insurance, and mutual fund transactions using administrative systems, and provide Principal-level determinations of suitability.
- Monitor customer transactions to detect trends or issues requiring escalation to Corporate Compliance.
- Resolve escalated cases from Field agents that require review by a Registered Principal.
- Conduct outreach to our agents to inform them of any transactions pending review, explain the nature of the pend, and gather updated information that may be material to our review process.
- Provide outstanding service support to our agents who contact us with suitability-related questions.
- Provide feedback and coaching to team members on suitability recommendations and correspondence quality.
- Identify training needs based on performance trends and escalate them to management.
- Lead or contribute to projects aimed at improving workflow efficiency, regulatory compliance, and agent communication.
- Examples include drafting Field News updates, building testing for regulatory changes, and enhancing internal controls.
- Maintain deep understanding of FINRA, SEC, and state insurance regulations and ensure compliance with current standards.
- Collaborate with Legal, Corporate Compliance, and Risk teams on suitability-related initiatives and escalations.
- Support audits and regulatory examinations by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Utilize data analytics to identify emerging trends, areas of risk, and training opportunities.
- Participate in cross-functional committees or workgroups to influence suitability policy development.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in the securities industry, preferably involving Life, Annuity, and Mutual Fund products.
- Active FINRA Series 6 and 26 required.
- FINRA Series 7 and 24 preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent judgment and investigative skills.

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $62,500 - $100,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
