About the role

Purpose of the Position:

The Research Associate IV will provide expertise and assist in scientific and engineering research of technologies relevant to weapon systems. Emphasis is on the design of experiment and operation of research grade gun systems to collect, process, and present experimental data as specified in contract agreements.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Perform scientific and engineering research of technologies
relevant to weapon systems, and manage contracted RDT&E efforts with relevant engineering hardware, software, and manufacturing tools to complete job project duties and job tasks.
• Design, and provide support of experiment and operation of research grade gun systems to collect, process, and present experimental data as specified in contract agreements.
• Manage and support the assembly, operation and maintenance of specialized
launcher systems.
• Provide technical support to resolve issues concerning RDT&E programs.
• Create, develop, prepare and generate technical and progress reports and summaries as required by contracted efforts.
• Work closely with and develop a positive, collaborative working relationship
with academic, industry and government participants.
• Serve as lead on various projects as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in science or Engineering
• 51-57 months (4.25 -4.75) years of full-time experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be a US Citizen and meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Secret
Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

• US Citizen with an active, Final Secret Clearance preferred
• 1 year of appliable experience within the DOD RDT&E area
• Assembly and operation of one and two-stage gas guns for the collection of
experimental test data.
• Fabrication and assembly of various test setups to collect experimental data and
subsequent processing of the results.
• Presentation of progress summary’s to sponsoring organizations and/or their
representatives.
• Computational modeling of energetic materials
• Certifications to operate a crane (e.g. rubber tired gantry), and material handling
equipment (forklifts)

$66,490 - $70,320
