Quality Manager

Location:  Covington, GA, on-site

The Quality Manager is a critical role for the Health, Hygiene, and Consumables (HHC) business at the H.B. Fuller Covington, GA location. HHC is one of 3 global business units (GBU) in H.B. Fuller with revenues of $1.37 billion. The HHC business in the Americas has sales of more than $584 million and employs more than 690 people, with 9 manufacturing facilities in states (California, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Washington, Texas and Kentucky) in the United States. HHC products are used in a broad range of industrial markets. There are many customers and many different products tailored to specific applications as well as high volume products that require a high level of infrastructure to support. Consequently, the operations and associated supply chain function are quite complex. Ambitious plans in the Americas Region require a seasoned manager to lead and continuously upgrade the functional capabilities in order to support the growth strategy in the coming years. The Covington, GA Quality Manager is a member of the site leadership team reporting directly to the Site Plant Manager. The Quality Manager provides strategic and tactical leadership to ensure the needs of the business can be delivered with the highest levels of safety, cost effective customer service and quality. 

The Quality Manager is expected to be accountable for the leadership team’s performance and actions. The quality manager is expected to participate in and, the delivery of, the leadership team’s goals.

The Quality Manager is the quality champion and quality agent of change.

The Quality Manager is responsible for serving the customer by creating and maintaining a clean, safe, highly productive plant, while making the most efficient and cost-conscious use of the equipment, materials, and employees to produce high quality products on first pass production runs. This individual needs to seek solutions that strengthen quality, value, service, and effectiveness. Respectfully challenge the way "things are done,” and support others in doing so and manage change effectively.

The Quality Manager is the manager responsible for the implementation and management of the ISO 9001-2015 program as well as any specific quality programs such as automotive, food safety and/or GMP programs that the plant implements.

The Quality Manager will work with the leadership team to make H.B. Fuller a great place to work, where employees are engaged and have the opportunity for career growth. The Quality Manager participated in developing and gaining support for both the operating and capital budgets. The Quality Manager will drive continuous improvement efforts and achievement of plant goals and objectives.  

This position has a team of direct reports and has indirect responsibility over the employees in the plant. The incumbent will have direct control over a departmental operating budget and facility capital projects that drive improvements. This position will work closely with division and regional labs, Pilot Plant, Engineering, SIOP and Sourcing to effectively introduce new products and processes.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Manages assets efficiently from an environmental, health, safety perspective while ensuring quality production, high customer service levels, low inventory and keeping costs/expenses within target budget guidelines;
  • Aligns continuous improvement initiatives with strategic objectives and key performance metrics to successfully manage programs and processes that support strategic goals, particularly as they relate to quality and the journey to zero defects;
  • Drives operational improvements in safety, quality and productivity by employing Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Discipline methodologies to achieve business objectives;
  • Creates a culture where safety is a value that results in top quartile safety performance, where the organization proactively identifies and reduces risk to create a safe and healthy work experience for all;
  • Promotes a “Customer First” mindset and culture through proactive employee identification of process improvements to yield superior quality and customer service in accordance with targeted metrics;
